Indian dance festival Mamallapuram, is being organised by Tamilnadu Tourism every year during Dec-Jan time frame (the exact dates are from Dec 23rd till Jan 23rd). This dance festival is organised mainly to showcase the different genre of dance such as Bharathanattiyam, Folk, Kuchipidi, Kathak, Odissa, Mohini Attam and Kathakali.

But in general we are not aware that there is a festival like this is happening in Mahabalipuram. So, the objective of writing me this blog is to give more information about this and showcase few of the pictures that were shot during the festival which should inculcate interest to visit this dance festival and  bring more visitors to this festival.

The festival is organised in the lawn (to the left) once we enter the gate to visit the shore temple. The timings are generally from 6 to 8 pm. There could be some additional programs on week-ends during which the timing could be from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. To all of our surprise, the entry for this festival is free.

I did attended this dance festival during which they have organised for Bharata Natiyum and Folk dance. Below are few clicks shot during the dance show. The show very much  portrays the “value” and  “Art” of dance. It is worth watching and I really enjoyed

“Bha”van, “Ra”gam, “Ta”alam – Bharata natyam is a fusion of facial expression, Melody and Rhythm. The pictures below depicts the different facial expression of the artists enacting the play “Sreenivasa Padmavathi Kalyanam”
